Registered Architect in Florida, or the ability to obtain Florida registration within six months via reciprocity is required. A valid State of Florida driving license is required. Must have a minimum 5+ years of licensed experience.
Job Summary:
Researches, plans, designs, prepares, and seals architectural designs, drawings, specifications and contract documents for new construction and renovations of various facilities. Reviews and comments on consultant-prepared architectural design and contractor prepared shop drawings; reviews architectural construction progress; guides and directs others in their assistance with preparation of design drawings and specifications; interprets architectural codes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, prepares, and seals architectural drawings and specifications involving large projects for new construction and/or modifications to various facilities, and special projects.
- Participates in negotiations of design contracts with outside consultants.
- Reviews, comments and recommends appropriate changes on all phases of consultant-prepared architectural design documents (i.e., plans and specifications, shop drawings, etc.).
- Provides design services during construction of project; inspects construction projects, reviews shop drawings, prepares contract change orders, design changes, field sketches, etc., for assigned projects and determines percentage of contract completion for validation of contractor/consultant pay requests.
- Prepares conceptual design and construction documents.
- Develops, reviews and updates design criteria, architectural directives, standard drawings and specifications.
- Lead teams of designers and project teams
- Participate in hiring of new Design Team members and assist in orientation of standard design processes
- Ensure safety and legal compliance requirements are met on all design work
- Provides Quality Control on drawings and mentor younger Architects and Designers.
REQUIREMENTS and SKILLS/EDUCATION:
- Advanced knowledge of Building systems and architectural detailing.
- Advanced knowledge of Building codes and ability to research, apply/incorporate into technical documents.
- Ability to lead a project and coordinate with subcontractors and owners.
- Exercise independent judgement on large complex projects.
- Ability to put a set of construction documents together independently.
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines and provide high quality service to clients on multiple projects at a time.
- Prepare schedules and budgets.
- Manage CA services process.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Must have minimum of 5+ years’ licensed experience working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, BIM360, Bluebeam, as well as Microsoft Office suite computer software.
- Registration as an Architect in Florida, or the ability to obtain Florida registration within six months via reciprocity is required.
- Themed Entertainment and Hospitality project experience is preferred.
